Makarska 2001

From February 1st till 16th the whole FC Vardar team of 30 members including the players and the team staff will stay in Makarska, the city on the Croatian Coast of the Adriatic Sea. In this last phase of the preparations for the second part of the season, 7-8 control matches are on the schedule and our opponents will be clubs like : Hajduk Split, Maribor (actual champion of Slovenia) and Brotnjo (actual champion of Bosnia - Herzegovina). The head coach Alekso Mackov expects through these control matches to see the current form of the team and what can we expect from the Champions League qualifying rounds in July 2001. From February 1st on this page you'll be informed for all the interesting things which will happen on the preparations of our club in Croatia. We hope that the preparations will be successful and our players will be prepared for the second part of the season which start is on February 25th. On this day Vardar is playing the first 1/4 final match against Pelister in Bitola.

February 1st

Today at 1 PM the whole FC Vardar team and staff of 30 members, including 22 players and 8 people from the coach staff and the board of the club is going to Makarska. The flight is on the regular line Skopje - Zagreb and then to Split and Makarska. There our team will stay till February 16th and some dates for the control matches are already set up. On February 8th we'll play against Hajduk Split and on February 10th against Brotnjo Citluk, the actual champion of Bosnia - Herzegovina.

February 2nd

The FC Vardar expedition stayed at "Biokovo" Hotel and right after the arrival some of the fixtures were set up. Vardar as was planned will play 7-8 control matches and the names of some the clubs are : Daewoo (South Korea), Hajduk, Sibenik, Zmaj (Croatia), Maribor (Slovenia), Petrolul (Romania), Brotnjo, Siroki Brijeg (Bosnia-Herzegovina). The dates are already set up, but in next few days everything about the friendly matches will be known.

February 3rd

The FC Vardar players continued with the trainings in the expecting of the first friendly match which will be played tomorrow against the Croatian second division member Mosor with the kick-off at 2.30 PM. Our players every morning will have a training and afternoon will play the friendly matches.

February 4th

Vardar in the first friendly match on the preparations in Makarska won 2:1 against the Croatian second division member Mosor. The goals for us were scored by Dejan Dimic in 81 min. and Aleksandar Bajevski in 85 min.The match was followed by a crowd of 200 and over and the first half finished 0:0. In the second half Mosor took the lead by 1:0, but the red-blacks with the excellent play in the last 10 minutes won 2:1. The starting 11 for Vardar were : Ilic, Colakovic, Janev, Blissing, Abazi, Memedi, Veselinovski, Dimic, Beganovic, Nacevski and Bozinov. In the second half also played : Zekir, Stojanov, Braga, Bajevski and the young Fesnik Nuhiu. If there are now changes in the calendar, these are the following opponents of FC Vardar : 06/02 (Imotska Krajina), 08/02 (Hajduk Split), 09/02 (Zmaj Makarska), 10/02 (Siroki Brijeg), 11/02 (Brotnjo Citluk), 12/02 (Velez Mostar), 13/02 (Sarajevo), 14/02 (Uranija - Croatian none-league), 15/02 (Brasov).

February 5th

There is no match today for our players, so there are only two trainings left, the first at 9.30 AM and the second at 5.30 PM. Tomorrow the series of friendly matches continues with the game against the 3th placed team in the Croatian second division, Imotska Krajina.

February 6th

In the second control match on the preparations by the Adriatic Sea, Vardar won with the same result as the first one. This Imotska Krajina was beaten by 2:1. The all 3 goals were scored in the first half and the goal scorers for Vardar were : Risto Bozinov in 25' and Dragan Nacevski in 30'. At the end of the first half Imotska Krajina scored the last goal of the match and placed the final result of 2:1. In the second half our players were again better but they didn't scored a goal against the Croatian second division member from the city of Imotski. The first 11 for FC Vardar were : Zekir, Janev, Blissing, Abazi, Memedi, Dimic, Veselinovski, Nacevski, Beganovic, Bozinov and Eftimov. In the second half also played : Grujoski, Colakovic, Braga, Nuhiu, Miserdovski, Ivanovski, Jovanovski and Bajevski.

February 7th

Today is again a no-match day for our players, but tomorrow in the little seaside place of Tucepi with the kick-off at 2.30 PM Vardar will play against one his old rival, Hajduk from Split. We hope that it will be a good match and the football fans from Split and Skopje will remember on the old good times when on the City Stadium in Skopje and on the Poljud Stadium in Split, the matches were excellent with a lot of goals and on the stands the fan groups "Komiti" from Skopje and "Torcida" from Split made a great atmosphere.

February 8th

Hajduk and Vardar played 1:1. On the match which was followed by a crowd of 1,000 , the "whites" from Split took the lead in 57th minute with the goal of Darko Miladin. In the 66th minute the result was equalized by the newcomer in the team of Vardar, Dejan Dimic. This is second goal for Dimic from his coming in Vardar and he is one of the outstanding players in the preparations for the second part of the season. The match was played on a muddy ground so that was a big difficulty for the players to show a better play. But however this is a great result for Vardar in this part of the preparations, especially with the fact that Hajduk is on the 3rd place after the first part of the season in the Croatian league. After the match the head coach of Hajduk, Zoran Vulic said : "I am satisfied only with the play of my players. The bad ground did not gave an opportunity for better game and I think that this match should not have to be played." The FC Vardar head coach Alekso Mackov said : "The match was friendly, but on the moments the play looked a real championship. Hajduk played great and for his 90th birthday I wish him a new championship title in the Croatian league. And about the play of my team, all of the players played very well and especially I have compliments for the outstanding Risto Bozinov who can be a model of a player on the friendly matches like today's one. Hajduk started with this 11 : Pletikosa, Gjuzelov, Sablic, Puljiz, Miladin, Srna, Musa, Hrgovic, Bosnjak, Bilic and Bubalo. In the second part also played : Sunara, Radeljic, Bozac, Jerkovic, Deranja and Spalj. For Vardar this players started the match : Grujoski, Abazi, Colakovic, Blissing, Janev, Memedi, Veselinovski, Beganovic, Bozinov, Nacevski and Miserdovski. In the second half also played : Ilic, Braga, Stojanov, Jovanovski, Bajevski, Dimic, Eftimov and Ivanovski.

February 9th

FC Vardar won 6:1 against the Croatian non-league Zmaj from Makarska. On this match the difference in classes was more then obvious and the winner was known before the kick-off. The first half finished with the lead of Vardar by 2:1 and in the second half the red-blacks scored 4 goals more. The goal scorers for Vardar were : Eftimov 2, Beganovic, Jovanovski, Nuhiu and Janev. Vardar started the match with these 11 : Ilic, Braga, Stojanov, Ivanovski, Nuhiu, Jovanovski, Beganovic, Eftimov, Nacevski, Miserdovski and Dimic. This is third victory in the fourth match for Vardar on the preparations in Makarska. Tomorrow we play against Siroki Brijeg from Citluk, member of the Premier League of Bosnia - Herzegovina.

February 10th

Our club continues with the great results on the preparations in Makarska. Today Vardar celebrated victory of 2:1 against Siroki Brijeg and the scorer of the both of goals was Feim Beganovic. The first half ended with a lead of Siroki Brijeg of 1:0, but in the second half Vardar put on its characteristic play and with a turn one came to its fourth victory in the fifth match on the preparations in Makarska. The first 11 on this match were : Zekir, Braga, Colakovic, Stojanov, Abazi, Memedi, Veselinovski, Dimic, Beganovic, Bozinov and Miserdovski. In the second half also played : Grujoski, Blissing, Eftimov, Nuhiu and Ivanovski. Our coach Mackov is satisfied with the preparations and he expects that until the start of the second part of the season on February 25th, Vardar will be ready for winning the double crown.

February 11th

Today there is no match for FC Vardar. Only the trainings and the walks by the coast of the Adriatic Sea left, but tomorrow the series of the control matches continues with the match against Sarajevo.

February 12th

FC Vardar for the first time was defeated on the preparations in Makarska. In today's match we were defeated by Sarajevo with 1:0. The first half finished with no goals and the only goal was scored in the second period. The starting 11 for this match were : Grujoski, Braga, Colakovic, Blissing, Janev, Abazi, Veselinovski, Beganovic, Dimic, Bozinov and Bajevski. In the second half also played : Borov, Stojanov and Nuhiu. Tomorrow our team is playing against the Croatian first division member, Sibenik.

February 13th

FC Vardar for the second time is defeated on the preparations in Croatia. Today our players lost from the Croatian side of Sibenik by 1:0. The only goal of the match was scored in the first half  and in the second half Ilco Borov missed a penalty kick for Vardar. The first eleven for this match were : Grujoski, Braga, Blissing, Colakovic, Janev, Stojanov, Veselinovski, Dimic, Beganovic, Bozinov and Nuhiu. In the second half also played : Zekir, Borov and Nacevski. Tomorrow Vardar is playing the last but one match on the preparations in Makarska against the team of Velez from Mostar.

February 14th

On the last but one match on the preparations in Makarska, Vardar won 2:1 against Velez Mostar. The first half of this match finished 1:1 and in the second half the FC Vardar players reached to the fifth victory on the preparations. The goals for FC Vardar were scored by Dragan Nacevski in 15th and 55th minute and the only goal for Velez was scored by Kavaja in 34th minute. Vardar had started this match with these 11 : Zekir, Braga, Blissing, Nuhiu, Stojanov, Abazi, Veselinovski, Dimic, Jovanovski, Nacevski and Borov. In the second half just two more players entered : Grujoski and Janev. Tomorrow FC Vardar is playing the last match on the preparations, and the opponent is the Romanian side of Brasov.

February 15th

FC Vardar won in the last match of the preparations in Croatia. On this last match on the preparations, Vardar won 2:0 against Brasov from Romania. The goal scorer for of the both of goals was Dragan Nacevski. With this match the preparations of our club in Makarska are finished and the balance of the 9 matches played is : 6 wins, 1 draw and 2 lost. Tomorrow the whole expedition is coming back to Skopje.

February 16th

Today at 12.00 CET on the Skopje Airport, the whole expedition of Vardar is expected to arrive from the 15-days preparations in Makarska, the city on the Croatian Coast of the Adriatic Sea.
